We’ve finessed the art of bringing Omaha custom homes to life. From contemporary masterpieces to gorgeous Scandinavian-inspired farmhouses, we’ll work closely with you to deliver state-of-the-art floor plans and superb custom home designs.

Our 5 steps to building your custom home in the Omaha area
1) THE PRE-CONSTUCTION & GAME PLAN
Hooray! Thanks for jumping on board. We can’t wait to get started on your custom home build. In the first step of the home building process, we'll go through a discovery phase to understand your needs and wants, capture those needs in writing, and draw your goals into the blueprints.
DISCOVERY PHASE
In our initial meetings, we want to get to know YOU and to discuss your custom home dreams and passions. Come prepared to discuss:
- Design
- Floorplans
- Ideal budget
- Lot options
- Timelines
If you’ve got your own ideas and drawings, please feel free to bring them along. Have a Pinterest board? Perfect, that’ll give us a sneak peek into your taste and design preferences. Two heads are always better than one, we’ll explore how we can bring it altogether seamlessly.
FINALIZING THE BLUEPRINTS AND SIGNING THE DOTTED LINES
So, we’ve got a game plan. Here’s where we’ll begin to design your dream home in detail – room by room. We’ll keep tailoring and fine-tuning, until you're 100% happy. Once it’s perfect, we’ll finalize the blueprints, start the estimating process, and get you an exact budget number.
Comfortable with the budget? We’ll sign the contracts, give you a detailed allowance sheet, and a copy of your custom home plan to submit to your lender of choice.
Now it’s time to set the wheels in motion!
2) BREAKING GROUND (EXCAVATION & FOUNDATION)
It starts with a lot of dirt… and to many, it may look like just a boring pile of dirt. But to us, it’s new beginnings!
Kick back, relax, and watch the show. Armed with a team of the most talented craftsman and a weaponry of high-end materials, the building of your custom Omaha home is about to start.
We want you to feel involved from the get-go, we see you and we hear you. Come out to the job site and say hi – get excited, get involved. Your presence will be appreciated and always welcomed - have a little daydream about pulling into your driveway while you’re at it.
3) THE BUILD (FRAME, ROUGH-IN & FULL ENCLOSURE)
Bring on the lumber! Now your home is moving vertically. This is the best time to capture some beautiful photos of the craftsmanship inside and outside your home. Smell the saw dust. See the sunrays peek between the beams. Watch the clouds roll between the rafters.
During this phase, we’ll be asking you for your choice of selections, including:
- Tiles and Flooring
- Cabinets and Countertops
- Plumbing and Electrical Fixtures
- Appliances
It might be a little overwhelming, but fear not, we’re right here with you. We’ll set up meetings with Omaha’s best interior and exterior designers, join you at the show rooms, assist with your design and answer all your questions.
By the end of this phase, your home will be fully enclosed. Weather permitting, the exterior concrete will be poured, and the exterior paint will be complete. Now it’s time to get busy on your home interiors!
4) INTERIOR DESIGN
Cabinets, flooring, and trim… oh my! There truly is no place like home, so click your heels together, close your eyes, and get ready for Art of a Craftsman’s luxurious touches and custom finishes.
All those selections you made in the last phase will be hung, your door hardware will be installed, your fireplace stone will be placed, and your walls will be painted with your color(s) of choice.
Pack a picnic basket, grab a bottle of wine, and throw a blanket down in your soon-to-be living room and soak it all in. Watch the paint dry. Turn on the fireplace. Breathe a sigh of relief, your beautiful custom home is almost complete.
5) HAND OVER THE KEYS & OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU
You’re about to cross the finish line! Art of a Craftsman does more than just build – we create memorable experiences. Our goal is to establish a fun and stress-free custom home building process for you.
